I don't know a whole lot about tire sizes so hopefully I can get some advice. I have an 07 avalanche 4x4. I want to put a level kit on and get a little bigger tires. I know some people have 285/70/17 i was wondering about 255/75/17. I'm looking to just get a little more height over the stock tires

Since you didn't state what you currently have, we don't know how to compare for recommendations. The two tires you mentioned are 32.8" and 32.1" tall, respectively. If you currently have 265 70 17, those are 31.7". Just about any good tire shop could tell you what will fit, and what will rub. They will also (usually) mount a tire for you to see for sure.

I am running 265/70/17 sorry forgot to include that. The second part to my question is I am looking for a tire that is good on mpg and can hold it's own when the white death comes In the winter. I don't do any off roading maybe in the yard if I have something to unload but no trails or off roading really
