I'm doing a tranny swap in my 81 K10 and I'm looking at a 700r4 out of a 1990 k5 blazer. I'm just wondering if that tranny would need a computer to shift properly. I believe the electronically controlled 700r4 is a 4L60E, and I think they started using the 4L60E in 1993. Seeing as this is a 90, I should be okay...er what?

Ok the 700R4 was electronic as well as a mechanical version. I believe that in 1990 they were mechanical in the blazer.. i think 90-91 is when they went elec in the 700R4 in the K1500s..... And if you can just try to get what you can for brains out of the 90. Or else try to find a 700R4 out of a 1985-87 Chevy. Those are mechanical and will bolt right up with less messing around.
And yes the 4L60E came out in 93 but is a totally different model from the 700R4.
