I want to change the transmission fluid in my 2002 silverado 1500 w/8foot bed, 4.3l and 2wd. To get the pan off there is some sort of cable in the way. Could anyone tell me how to get the cable out of the way?

Welcome to the club. Is it the cable that is mounted with a bracket on the side of the tranny? If it is than you need a Torx bit to remove that bracket. I think its a #40 bit, but can't remmember for sure. Maybe someone on the site knows.

Thanks, I will take a look at it.
Also for a better question, when my dad backed out of the driveway and drove forward to park, the differential seemed to be stuck locked, and it took going forward and backward a couple times for it to start slipping again and we aren't sure if this is cause for concern or not. FYI I don't think it has been a constant problem.
