I own a 2009 Colorado crew cab Z71 4X4 with a V8. I have driven it for a year now and I have never seen another one on the road and have only seen two in the Chevrolet web site at dealerships for sale. Is there anyone else out there with a Colorado with a manufacturer installed V8?

No, I have not heard of anyone who has. Do you have some pictures? I would like to see what it looks like.:glasses:

thats pretty awesome you have the V8, can't say I've seen any on the road, I know they put V8's in the H3's too but those are few and few between also... I'd like to see some pics!

I have tried three times to upload pictures but I can't seem to get them to take. I have gotten an error each time.

Nice truck, so give us a real world review of a V8 Colorado (MPG, power, likes, dislikes), I have been very interested in these ever since they dropped the 5.3 in!!

    V8 Colorado

The gas mileage is not great, about 12 city, 15 highway. As far as power, I tow a bass boat, have had about two thirds of a pallet of St. Augustine grass in it, and I made a believer out of a guy in a Nissan 350Z in an 1/8th mile sprint. I don't think that he could believe he was looking at the tail gate of a crew cab 4X4.
This particular truck has every option that was available in 2009 with the exception of an engine block heater, not much of a need for it in Texas.
Chevy did it right with the V8 in the Colorado, it is an all aluminum 5.3, automatic transmission, and 410 rear gears. With the stabilitrack on, the most you will get from a pedal to the floor launch is a chirp from the limited slip rear. Without the stabilitrack on, lets just say you will keep your local tire dealership in bussiness!
    Hope this answers your questions,

Sounds great but very surprised with the low MPG, it does have the Fuel Management or did you get the flex fuel motor?

It is not a flex fuel engine and as far as the poor MPG, my only guess would be the low speed rear gears. I traded a 2005 Colorado crew cab 4X4 with the inline 5 for this one and it didn't get that great of gas mileage either.
Hey GM, how about a hybrid for the 5.3 in the next Colorado?
We ought to be able to express our wishes since we now own a part of GM, right!!!

I thought they only offered the flex or the fuel managment motor for the Colorado. Even with the 4.10 I would think it would do better. Oh well I still want one!!

    Colorado V8

Hey Mark, I just took delivery of a 2010 Colorado Z71 LT2 with the 5.3L engine. Sounds like basically the same truck you have, leather, power seats, all the bells and whistles. Awesome truck!!!! I got rid of a 2007 extended cab Silverado Z71 when I got this one, and I like the Colorado much more. Much easier to handle and park and plenty of power..
I normally trade vehicles every two years or so, but this one may be a keeper, the wife likes it even more than I do.
I'll try to get some pics up in the next couple of days.\

    V8 Colorado

So there is at least one more. Thanks EASTEX. I was about ready to put mine up on blocks and not drive it.
You are right about them being easy to drive. The 2005 crew cab Colorado that I traded for this one had a very small turning radius and this one turns about like a car. I know what you mean about trying to keep the wife out of it. She drove a 2005 Avalanche that I bought the same day that I bought the 2005 Colorado (GM Employee Pricing for Everyone in 2005) and she drove the Colorado more than her truck. I had to buy her a 2009 Infinity G37 coupe to keep her out of my truck.
I'm sure you will like yours as much as I like mine.
    Keep in touch.

hey man there are a few factory v8 rados on another forum NLC knows what im talkin about! there is a non factory 6.0L reg cab too!
