I'm looking around for a CAI and ive been looking at a lot of posts on here. I understand its mainly a personal prefrence so Ive kind of narrowed it down to Volant and K&N, but i have a couple of questions:

    1. What's the difference between the K&N 57(FIPK) series and 63 series CAI?

    2. Is there a big difference between the Volant CAI with and with out the powercore kit?

and if people have expirence with any of the CAI's listed above feel free to give some input

the 57 series k&n is a metal chrome tube if im not mistaken and the other is the standard plastic
and it never hurt to do a little ram air with the volant model ive got ram air but my trucks alot older and
no one made a kit like that for the older models

The 57 is a plastic tube which is not as susceptible to heat as the steel tube which means the 57 should produce more horsepower.

yes i believe the 57 series is a plastic material because on the k&n website it says its the sister product to the 63 series so im trying to find the difference between them. the k&n 77 series is the metal one and i plan to stay away from those. all the CAIs i listed are the plastic material, just trying to get some input on them.

    Thanks

x2 on the metal /plastic difference with the K&N ,(stay away from metal tubes) I have the Volant and I'm very happy with it, I think the biggest deciding factor on choice of intake is personal preference and visual appeal, performance is going to be close enough as to not be able to tell any difference, just my 02.

ya i agree with you its mainly personal preference and visual appeal. i like the look of the volant chrome lid cover. but i also like the look of the k&n cone filter. does anyone know if you cover the filter on the k&n or its just open to see?

The K&N is covered. This also helps to keep the hot engine air out.

Im with adam on this one they pretty much do the same thing, the volant just looks nicer in my opinion. the looks is alot cleaner plus not every other person has one thats always a selling point for me.
