Having trouble with a 2010 Silverado 5.3 and want to disable AFM in an attempt to diagnose. The AFM is not consistent or smooth compared my 2007 i.e.(when switching to V-8 can feel a bump in power or V-4 won't engage on downhills somedays as appose to others) I think I've even had the AFM activate and then deactivate quickly that the drivetrain clunks or bangs at any speed.

You can disable it with a Diablo Preditor or Diablo Trinity. Plus you can then have a performance tune (87 or 93 octane) and your gas mileage will improve some. MarylandSpeed.com has the Preditor for $279.00 shipped, the Trinity is more money, $599.00 but it does more.

Have you brought these concerns to the attention of your local dealership? There are many benefits to taking a vehicle to your local dealership. You can guarantee that technicians are certified and that the parts come with a GM parts warranty. For these reasons, I would recommend taking the vehicle to your local dealership to be diagnosed. They should be able to assist you further and have a plan for addressing the issue. I can also look into this issue further. In order to do more research, I will need some more specific information from you such as your name, address, phone number, the VIN for the vehicle, and current mileage. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me either on the thread or via private message. Thank you.

    Tricia, GM Customer Service.
