Getting more quotes on a rack and pinion + power steering pump replacement.... quotes are all over the board..... anywere from $850 (including alinement) to $1300.....

Anyone know what it should cost to do that? I am 2 wheel drive, so there is no transfer case in the front.

Installed the positive leads on the truck. 4ga for fuse boxes and 1/0 for alternator. Also bought new battery terminals because the ones I have will not be long enough for all the lugs to be installed. Currently the Aux fuse box is not connected because I need to install the longer terminals.

I put new bulbs in 3 out of the 4 steering wheel controls. I ran out of bulbs so I will get more tomorrow. I chose to go with standard bulbs instead of led.

Just added Seafoam to the oil in the truck to let it clean until the oil change I'll do this weekend. Also bought 6 qts. of Valvoline Synpower oil,was gonna get Pennzoil which was on sale 5 quarts syn for 12.50, but they had two bottles left. Learned the Penn doesn't meet Dexos1 standard so I'm happy I picked the Valvoline which does. Also grabbed an AC Delco PF52 oil filter for the truck and an extra can of Seafoam for my friend.

Got new pitman & idler arms installed, new steering dampner, intermediate steering shaft installed. Got one upper ball joint pressed out....then realized I ordered lower ball joints by mistake when I needed uppers! Now the truck sits disabled till the correct parts arrive tomorrow...not amused.

Did you take pics of how to do this? If not, can you provide some insight or a link to a walkthrough? PM me, please. I've got one that's toast and I've been putting it off...

Wiring in LEDs for those is a PITA ... and would look goofy as heck if he just did one.

I haven't done much to the avalanche recently other than drive it but in the last few days I've done some work on my duramax. I built sideboards for the flatbed on it and painted them black, topped up the transmission fluid, added fuel additive, cut off the hitch extension that is stuck in the receiver tube, bolted a 30,000lb pintle hitch onto the hitch plate above the receiver tube, and drove it to a trailer place about an hour out of town to buy a new 20' equipment trailer with 2 7,000lb axles for my work today
