I discovered a bloom of aluminum oxide on most of the aluminum chevy parts on the engine on my Duramax today. It makes it look really ugly, and I don't know what to do about it or why it suddenly happened. The truck has been sitting alot, and the weather has been real damp lately, so that might have something to do with it.
Can anyone suggest what caused it and what to do about it?
    Thanks.

It's caused by excessive moisture for long periods of time. Typically aluminum oxide is removed using a phosphoric wash. One available product is called Navel Jelly and you can usually find it at Home Depot/Lowes. A phosphoric wash will brighten up the aluminum also. If you leave it on to long, it will etch the aluminum. Read the directions!!!
