03 burb's mirrors wont fold anymore

Can anyone tell me where the fuses are that control the folding mechanism on an 03 1500lt burb please. Both sides refuse to fold (and no sound from either). With the side selector switch set to the right or left mirror then the switch does correctlt control the angle of the mirror glass.

Any help in a wiring diragram would be gratefully received. I've looked through 2 mamuals (chilton and Haynes ) but tey deal only with the power mirrors - not the folding mechanism.

If the folding mechanism is controlled by a fuse or power breaker seperatley can ayone tell me what other equipment is meant to operate from the same fuse.

Mirrors not foldinh

Hi there just wondering if you fixed the problem yet ? I have an 03 tahoe with the same problem. Thanks
I finally solved the problem.

There are various solutions out there. There is a TSB that suggests the mirror folding system can just get out of sync. To correct this manually fold the mirrors and then use the switch to open them. You should see the mirrors open and then hear them click into place. The solution tehn requires you to cycle (which I assume means open and fold 3 times) before switching off again.

However this did not work for me.

The clue to my problem was trying to set new postions for the mirrors on the 2 drivers settings. If you are not familiar with this just set the mirror to a postion and then press and hold either button 1 or 2. You need to set distinctly different postions for the 1 and 2 buttons for both sides.

The idea thus is hit button 1 (driver1) and the mirrors should move to the memorised position. Then hit button 2 and the mirrors should nove to the other memorised position.

However in my case the mirrors didnt work as they should - the drivers side did but the passenger side didn't move.

This is important as the folding mechanism first centers the mirrors then folds them - if it cant move the mirrors and get a signal back to the driver's door module that they are BOTH centered then neither will fold.

Having found the probelm was in the passenger mirror I then carefully pulled at the glass and it eventually popped off the round mount at the back. Be careful as the mirror will have wires to it (well if its heated) so support it - be careful as if you fold it you may jame the glass between the bodey and the mirror mechanism.

In my case a large rubber boot that stops water and dirt getting into the meachanism appeared to be out of place. With the mirrot off I cycled the mount (so selected the mirror switch to passnger side by depressing the right hand side and using the 4-way switch nto move the mechanism up/down/left/right) The mirror movement did seem slow but quickly improved.

I popped the mirror back onto the mount - there are two half moon cut-outs you need to align and its just a hard push.

If that doesn't solve your problem then you can get a technisican with a TECH 2 diagnostic scanner to force the mirrors to move - that way you can identify if its the mirror or the wiring or the modules.

By the way the other thing i did was to pop the plastic trim off the inside of the passenger mirror on the door - just pull the front edge and it will eventually pop off (I was worried I was pulling so hard but it was fine). I made sure the wire cable bundle was Ok and not rubbing.

Let me know how you get on - or if you fixed it already,

Julian

power fold

Hey julian i think this maybe my problem as well, this is the original question i posted on a different forum.
< Hey fellas need some help.. I have a 03 tahoe LT which has the power folding mirrors. A couple days ago they started to give me some trouble, the driver side mirror would not respond to the closing command whereas the pass side was folding on time. I tried to adjust the driver side lens up or down and it wouldn't respond so i moved it by hand and it started to work after that but still it wouldn't fold in. I folded it by hand and tried to open it by power and it worked but still it would not fold on its own, now either side wont power fold in but they would open out if i fold them by hand. They get the command but wont fold, like the lens starts to move but they go rite back and wont fold. Sorry for the lengthy post but wanted to provide as much info as i could. Any help is greatly aprecciatedted in a different forum.>
Thanks again for ur help, will try this tomorrow hope this works
