I need to replace my igntion lock cylinder which means I need to take the plastic off of the steering column.

I have a 2006 Silverado and am having some challenges. Under the steering wheel, it appears that there are 4 holes where screws could be but I can't seem to fit a torx or allen key in there.

Any advice on how to get this thing off?

I believe that it is a torx. I had use a screwdriver torx rather than a bit inserted into a screwdriver. This was because the one that you slide the bit in was too wide. Mine only had one in it. The previous owner removed them and never replaced them. So I would take a flash light and make sure that they are actually there

I will take another look but it didn't look like a torx. I did notice what you are saying about the bit driver not being able to fit in the holes though... I am the original owner and have never had to remove the steering column plastic shroud before.
