Just bought an 88 S10 2wd 5 speed a couple days ago. Was running fine until tonight when I rolled up to a stop sign and went to go again and the car wouldn't go forward. It's like the transmission isn't disengaging at all. I can put it into every gear no problem. In 1st I noticed the car was rolling forward just the tiniest bit, like there was a small amount of power to the rear wheels. Not sure where to go forward with this as I'm not very familiar with these trucks. Any help at all would be appreciated.

You might start with bleeding the clutch slave cylinder. Check the fluid level in the master first. The bleeder screw is on the slave on top where the fluid line connects to the slave piston.

If defective master/slave/air in lines the clutch won't disengage. It will be engaged all the time. The pressure plate is either hung in disengaged position, broken spring in pressure plate, splines stripped on clutch plate or input shaft or broken transmission or broken u-joint and missing driveshaft.

(THIS IS THE OP RESPONDING. GOT LOCKED OUT OF ACCOUNT "DANGERSON")

Bled the slave cylinder, no Bueno so we got the truck up in the air and the bell housing off. clutch plate was almost completely gone so I ordered a kit for it. Problem I'm running into now if the pilot bushing. here are he measurements

ORIGINAL PILOT BUSHING
INSIDE DIAMETER- 20.93
OUTSIDE DIAMETER - 37.93

NEW PILOT BUSHING (IN CLUTCH KIT)
Inside diameter - 14.93
outside diameter - 27.93

All of the other parts in the clutch kit are the same. this truck has had a hard, rusty life and this trans and motor are almost definitely not original. Any suggestions as to here to go from here?
I have looked into the pilot bushing from a fiero (National number PB650) and it has almost the exact same measurements.

If you've figured out that the original bushing isn't serviceable then measure the input shaft o.d., the flywheel i.d. and length needed. You'll need a savy clerk at one of the auto parts stores to find it.

It might be better to call Summit, RockAuto, etc. Have your measurments at hand when you call.
