Hi when I push the brakes the lights don't come on however if I use the knob on the console they come on no problem. I changed the brake light switch but it had no effect.
Thanks for any help!!
Are the running lights working with the headlights or parking lights on, but brake lights are not working? If so, check fuses. That's where I would start. I don't know what type of light switch would be on a console.
Looking at the brake light diagram its labeled stop lamp switch...turning this will activate my running lights and the brake lights...I checked the fuses I thought relevent which were fine.
Could I have missed one?
In addition to what Ray says, my 2002 Silverado diagram (possibly the same as your avalanche) shows the wire at the brake switch to be an orange wire that has constant 12Volts. I'm curious as to whether you have a CHMSL (center high mounted stop lamp) light? Does it come on with the brake pedal depressed?
