First let me say that im new here and need help from time to time so i thought the best place is asking others that also own gm's and work on their own vehicles

I have a 02 silverado and replaced my steering column with one from a junk yard. I have the key to the new column as well. So after i replaced the column with the new one (semi new at least new to me) and hooked up the harness the truck will not start anymore it turns over and acts like it will start but just wont stay running. What should I do? Do i have to take it to dealership and have it programmed?

You don't have to take it to the dealer. Since you changed the column you have changed the Passlock key code (resistance code) so your BCM is locking you out. Security mode. You need to do a passlock key relearn procedure. You can google this "passlock key relearn" or check your owners manual as I think its in there also,
