hey guys i'm looking to sell my silverado, wife just had hip surgury and can't get in it anymore and buy a 2002 tahoe lt with autoride. i'm new to tahoes never had one or drove one til the other night we test drove this one. it actually turned out to be our neighbors down the road, he traded for a new duramax. is there anything i need to be cautious of. i talked to him about it and he says he never had any problems with anything and he drove it everyday to work. it has 122000 miles on it and in in really good shape. i'm not really familiar with the auto ride. is there something i should check? i never seen him haul anything other than a lawnmower. is there anything i should look for????

I would say the autoride is definitely a big thing to look out for. It is the rear air suspension system, and can have a lot of problem areas depending on the individual vehicle. The autoride system uses a compressor, some small air lines, and air shocks on both sides of the rear. Check the rubber airbags on the shocks to make sure they aren't punctured, cracked, or leaking - my experience is that they tend to run about $600 each if you replace them yourself. I would also listen just after you start it after it has been turned off for a while to make sure the compressor kicks in and lifts the back end. Also check to make sure the lines for the air shocks aren't damaged.

Other than taking a good look to make sure the autoride system is in good shape, I would just check everything else that you would normally check on a vehicle to make sure it is in good shape.

thanks for the advice!!! we test drove it the other night and it rode really well, and i know the guy that had it before and he never said anything bad about it. i think i've got my truck sold so as soon as i do and we go look at the tahoe again i'll check out the autoride setup.....thanks again!!!

If the autoride goes bad there are aftermarket companies that have replacement struts/springs. They are pricey but still cheaper than replaceing the autoride. I know one person who did the conversion and he was happy with the new shocks/struts. If the Tahoe is clean, taken care of and the price is good then I'd have no problems buying it.

its fully loaded leather 3rd row towing package autoride new tires and the body is perfect and the lot is asking $10,500. the good new is it was my neighbor down the roads so i know the history about it so that helps with my decision!!!

SOLD the truck this morning and we are picking up our "new" tahoe soon as my wife gets off work at noon!!!!
