My '03 Z66 just recently started something new. Whenever I had the turn signals on, and I depressed the brake pedal, the flasher would stop flashing. In either direction. Today I confirmed that when I have the turn signals on, all my brake lights, including the third brake light, are flashing with the turn signal, which also explains the cruise control being turned off when I signal for a lane change on the freeway.
Any ideas for where to start looking for the wiring crossover? It's not shorting out to ground (all the fuses are still good), just illuminating the wrong lights.

It's backfeed, usually caused by dirty grounds.

After doing some more research... It turns out it is not just bad grounds. It was a bad combination hazard/turn signal flasher. $50 on Amazon. Problem fixed. Here is the bad unit:
