I have a 2004 silverado that has a manual floor shifter and it keeps shifting into 4wd alone and cant figure it out y

Meaning the shifter moves to the 4WD position or the truck falls into 4WD and the shifter remains stationary?

I'd suspect the cable needs adjusting.
