2004 Yukon Steering Noise

Hello, not sure where to put this so I'll put it in a couple places. We just bought a 2004 Yukon SLT last week, 29,000 miles. It has started making a knocking noise when I turn, more so when I turn right than left. It sounds like it is coming from the steering column. Has anyone had any problems with it?

It is still under manufacturers warranty and we bought an extremely good extended warranty so I'm hoping it will be covered if I take it in, just wondered if anyone has had any problems.

Thanks!

Hello back at you,

I had a 2002 Tahoe and now a 2004 Tahoe that had the same issues. The 2002 started doing that at around 19,000 miles.

Anyway, the "Intermediate Steering Shaft" is the culprit on your truck.

Although they don't list it as a "campaign" of a fix now, there WAS a bulletin for the issue on the 2002 Tahoe.

Make: CHEVROLET
Model: TAHOE
Year: 2004
Type: ANY
Service Bulletin Number: 000235003C
NHTSA Item Number: 10004716
Summary Description:
CLUNKING NOISE UNDER HOOD AND CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING ...

I hope that helps answer your question.

Steve
