Hey everyone! Please know I possess little automotive skills and will do my best to describe this!
Recently, the rear right taillight on my 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer went out. The light itself consists of three sections-the brake light, the turning indicator below that, and at the bottom, the reverse light. The reverse light worked fine, so I assumed it was time for two new bulbs for the other two that didn't work.
However, when I went to try and change the bulbs, the brake light socket was completely melted and in bad shape, to the point where I couldn't even change the bulb and it was clear the circuit board that the bulbs plugged into was in need of replacement for this reason. I then ordered a Depo Auto Lamp and as soon as it arrived installed it within minutes.
This is where it gets odd. The reverse light works, the turning indicator is fine and the top light illuminates when I press on the brake pedal, however when the headlights and taillights go on at night, the top light on the rear right doesn't go on! Simply put, everything else works, and clearly that top light works as it lights up when I press the brake pedal, but when the headlights and taillights are on normally, that section of the taillight doesn't go on.
I'm very confused-I haven't checked the fuses yet, but I don't see how that could be the problem as the light is still getting power and works when I hit the brake. Everything was working fine until I needed to do this replacement. It makes me wonder if there's some switch I need to turn on or something-dumb, I know, but this is a very confusing problem.
Any thoughts?
