I think i might need some advice. Anyone out there give me a little help in installing fog lights on my 2008 Silverado 1500? It would be greatly appreciated. I ordered a set of HID fog lights off the net cause my Silverado didnt come with any, i need a little help on routing the wiring harness and the hookups, the lights came in mounted and ready for instalation on the 2008 Silverado 1500, im a engine mechanic, however im not quite a seasoned electrician yet.....

need a little more info on what you need help on
I'm guessing your 08 didn't come with fog lights. If you found an aftermarket kit, please let me know because I've been searching for one since the day I bought my truck. If it's a question of where to buy the kit your outta luck from all my research. The only way is to buy part by part from the dealer. I think I was quoted like 500 bucks or so.
in a 07 silverado i worked on the wiring harness was already there, with a plug in the end of it, and when i popped off the switch for the cargo lamps, (the fog switch is located nderneath the cargo when you have factory fogs) the harness was just plugged in the back of it, so the kit came with the switch it was almost plug and play, except for cutting the bumper valence, and screing in the fogs
keep in mind if you go with the oe fog light you have to get the truck reprogram for it. a good site to get dealer parts at a discount is www.gmpartsclub.com

Did they work after you installed them? i have a 07 silverado and i think everything is already there. from relay to harness(cant fing the fog light connector though). i bought the switch, and my truck recoginzes it when i push it (light in the dash comes on). but the lights don't work. i used a multimeter and it showed roughtly 4 volts at the plug infront of the radiator(for the fog lights?) that wasn't plugged into anything.
Do i really need a reflash? or can i disconnect the battery for 30-45 minutes and see if the truck recognizes the lights upon power-up?
bumping this hot topic...
Well I guess my question would be why would it have to be reflashed? If you are trying to tie it into the factory wiring then I understand, but if you are running them off of a seperate wiring harness then no you don't have to have it re-flashed. Although I have never worked on a NNBS style truck yet, so I am probably way off base. I have always been a light freak on all my trucks, and has added thousands of dollars of lights on each one and NEVER had to reflash. I usually make up my own wiring harnesses or buy them, the best one I have bought by far has been the PIAA harnesses. The fuse, relay and everything is built right into a small black box that can be mounted any where. As a matter of fact I used one of those harnesses for my stock foglights, instead of splicing factory stuff. This is probably all useless info for your situation, so just ignore it I guess!

BUMP, BUMP BACK TO THE TOP!

thats worth a try, my moms truck had to be reflashed because the "needed the ok from dodge and the reprogrammed the vin number saying that the truck came with fog lights
im just going to put a dedicated relay for the fogs so they come on with my parking lights. i can take pics of this if anybody wants
Really?

where did you get the kit from? Do you have the webisite?
I was told by my dealer that it would be a 300.00 plus option & another 100.00 for the flash on my 09 GMC Sierra Ext cab 1500!!

I am not sure if they will work or even if they come with everything you need for the install but I found some that said they will fit an 07-09 GMC/Chevy truck on E-bay. I think they are 80.00 or so. I will try to find out more info and re-post for everyone. If someone else knows or finds out before me please post and hopefully when we find a solution we can make it a sicky for everyone!
