Hey All,

If anyone else has noticed this please let me know. I just recently bought a 2010 Silverado Z71 Crew Cab with the 5.3 V8 (Active Fuel Management). It has 11,000 miles on it. I've begun to notice it idles rough in gear or out of gear. Either when coming to a stop or at a light, or just parked running. The tach will fluctuate from 700 RPM to 500 RPM and you can feel it in the cab. It just does this sporadically. I'm wondering if this is a recurring issue with others? It just seems to not idle at a constant speed and I don't want to hear the dealer tell me this is normal. I traded in a 1999 S10 with 190,000 miles beat all to hell that idled at a constant speed, I would expect this truck to.

Any information would be appreciated...

Thanks

I have a 2008 Silverado Texas edition and yes I notice it also. It feels almost like a small missfire. I haven't been able to pin-point exactly what it is. It's been happening more often since it's gotten warmer.

I bought a used 2010 Silverado 5.3 and noticed that idle was surging between 400-600. I found that the oil level was overfilled by about a quart and 2 of the spark plugs were nasty. I drained the oil to the proper level and changed out the two fouled spark plugs and it instantly got better.

I'm still paranoid about it and *think* I feel it shudder a bit sometimes so my next step will be to remove and clean the throttle boddy, I can see a lot of carbon build up on the butterfly valve.

My truck has a lot more miles than yours though, it's at 37000.

i have an 08 avalanche with a 5.3 90,000 km
it recently started to idle rough and misses at highway speed.
check engine light is not on and no codes.
guess i'll change plugs and wires before it goes to dealer @ $90/hour
