I'm on the fence if I should take my truck in for oil changes/maintenance.

If I do the oil change on my own, is it worth it to use Royal Purple? Or will any synthetic do?

What is all of your opinions? Anybody else have recommendations on a DIY maintenance plan?

Thanks!

Just my opinion but if you're going to do your own oil changes I would first do the first one to change out the factory fill oil a little early, certainly before you reach 50% on the OLM or around 3000 miles, after that around 5000 miles using a quality full synthetic DEXOS 1 approved oil and during the warranty period I would use the AC-Delco oil filter just so you don't get any warranty hassles. Save your receipts for the oil and filters. You probably have 2 free oil & filter changes with tire rotation, intersperse those between your own service as you won't need the tire rotation after the first 3000 miles or so.

you use dexos GM approved engine oil with the viscosity spec required .
I do my own oil changes because they can screw it up , also they do not allow all the oil to drain out time is $$$.. I wait 45 min to allow the oil to drain ..use the GM ac oil filters since under warranty new..

I use purolator pure one oil l filters on my 1996 and 2000 GM V8 engines .. never had a problem the oil filters I have cut open very high quality .
