Fellas I need help in deciding which gear ratio I should switch too. I now have 3.23 gears and it will not launch from a dead stop. Like an old lady in Pasadena. I was thinking on the 3.73 gears.

Anyone have some knowledge on this combination and if it is good for get up and go? I heard that the 3.73 gears with 32 inch tires is not that great. HELP!

True, but with torque management power will still be dialed back and he won't have much power at launch.

The other problem he'll have is the traction control. As soon as it detects a wheel spin, on goes the brake and down goes the power. If he wants launch power he needs to tune it, or wait for the warranty to expire.

changing parts n such does not void the warranty. there is a law which protects the consumer and makes the producer prove that the part changed caused the problem. i forget what its called but i know its a US law.

Enjoy your new truck!

Heres a chart that will help you choose the proper ratio for your desired tire size. 4.11 would be your best bet!

Oh I know @RayVoy, tq management is a killer on the newer stuff. I just found it hilarious that the other guy said it’ll void his warranty like the post wasn’t about a gear change!

Personally I woulnd’t mess around and I’d just put 4.11 gears in. That’s the gruntiest gear that tuners have factory specs to go off of when calibrating. Granted any tuner worth their salt can get things right regardless, the 4.11 is my personal favorite. Good low end grunt, doesn’t kill mileage as much as people will tell you. My 2000 5.3 had factory 4.10s and got 14-15 mpg. My dads 02 has 3.42 and doesn’t see any better mileage and they are identical trucks except gears
