I currently have a 4x4 1985 GMC Sierra with a tbi engine that has a carb on it and a sm465. I have available to me an NV4500 and transfer case from a 92 6.5. And I could easily get my hands on a nv3500 if I needed. So my question is what all will I need to complete a swap to one of these transmissions? Clutch, flywheel, pressure plate? Can I use all of that out of the 92? Is my driveshaft I currently have in the truck going to work or will I have to get a custom one? Will my current slave and master setup work for one of the NV’s?

It should almost be a direct swap. I would take the driveshaft for the 92 and bring it over as well. Someone with more experience with the 465 should be responding about the slave cylinder. If you’re needing to re-surface the flywheel anyway, then use the one on the donor so that it’s ready to go when you’re set up to do the swap. In my humble opinion, I would use the 4500.
