i have a 2003 1500hd truck. yesterday i was out at my buddies house runnin it around in his field in 4lo. the first part of the day it would go into 4lo just fine and come back out of it to 2 wheel with no problems. towards the end of the day tho i went to put it back into 2wd from 4lo and it did nothing. the push botton didnt blink or anything when i hit 2wd. it took me about 15 min of messing around with the truck (shutting it off, starting it back up, driving forward and backward) then it finally started to blink when i hit the 2wd. for the past year once in awhile i would have a service 4wd come on in my dash but it never had a problem going into or out of 4wd. im hoping its just my switch in my dash is going bad becuase i know they are alot cheaper then the 4wd actuator on the tcase.

but i thought i would post on here and see if anyone has had this problem im having or if they have ab etter idea as to why it is doing this to me.

thanks for any help

4LO should only be used at crawl speeds or pulling. Your post said you were running it around a field. If you are going over crawl speed than you need to use 4HI. Also how many miles on the transfer case fluid?? If over 40,000 miles it need to be changed.

we have what we call a raceday twice a year at my buddies house. 500ft drag strip where we run pretty much anything out there. i was runnin my truck out there so i run it in 4lo as i do when i head to the silver lake sand dunes. as for the miles for all i know the fluid has never been changed. ive only put about 10k on the truck since i bought it, but im sure changing the fluid wont hurt it one bit. is it a certain fluid i have to run in it? and is it possible the fluid could be causing the service 4wd to come on and also make it so it wouldnt come out of 4lo like it did to me yesterday?

If you have a 246 transfer case then you want to use AutoTrac ll fluid. You may be low on fluid.
