I guess i'm in the market for a programmer, I narrowed it down to the Hypertech Energy max or the Diablosport trinity ( i want TCM support ).

4wheelparts has a site wide 5% off, and possibly some july4 deals coming out tonight, so i called my local shop ( finally got through ) to check inventory. They had 3 in stock !

But the guy just came out and said, he wouldn't recommend the diablosport products because he gets alot of complaints about them from the customers. He said the software is buggy and alot of times locks up your PC, and the units have a high failure rate within 6months. He said diablosport will not be supported by his shop, so if any issues come up i would have to take it up with diablosport directly.

He recommended the hypertech over the diablosport by a wide margin.

I was under the impression diablosport had a solid product, any thoughts before i dish out $600bucks

Never heard of this issue before, did he give any reasons? Could be solid, could be myth, could be opinon.

I know the majority of members on here LOVE the Diablo. I purchased it and played with it a few times and could not really feel the difference in power. STB tried to help me with the trims and everything, but just not smart enough or just could not get it dialed in. I sold it and got the Hypertech speedo with out the tune and it was very very easy to use. I know they does not help with the performance tune part, but it is my personal experience.

We never had any issues with Diablo's or Hypertech. I'd be willing to bet that the 4WheelParts had got a deal on a bunch of Hypertechs. Theres always deals out there for the shops and alot of shops by the deals and then push the product. Remmember the salesman works on commission. Goggle 4wheelparts and scroll down and look at the complaints and state investacations on them. The Hypertech is very user freindly but thats because it doesn't do as much. I'm a computer dumbass and after reading the Diablo's directions and forums I figuired it out. You can't screw-up the truck with the Diablo because if you get confused you just hit escape and it takes you out. At first when I started playing with my Diablo I would screw up and escape out and then figuire out what I did wrong by rereading the instructions or going on there forum and then starting over.

Good to know STB, and you may be right about the large shipment of them, because their website shows them running a special on em.

I like my Preditor, but I have a older truck and the computers are differant as mine doesn't have a seperate TCM so I turned off my TM. Blackout07 posted that he didn't think the Preditors for the NNBS trucks would get the TCM update when it comes out, only the Trinity. I've been on there forum and I can't confirm this, but if it is true then get the Trinity.

Well i went with the Hypertech MaxEnergy. 4wheelparts has a 4th of july special for $220, normally $380, that was just too good to pass up.
I'm glad it has the TCM tuning built in, that is really what i was looking for when towing.

Cheers and thanks for all yalls help.

Why Me!
So i purchase the Hypertech online last night, and set it for instore pickup. I get to the local store today to pick it up, and the guy says i have to pay him $100 if i want it. Confused at this point, i asked what the hell is he talking about, he said that their online system had a price bug, and that they will not honor the price. I told the guy that i've already paid for it , so there is no price to honor, its already done! I told him they must provide product for payment already made.

He just said nope, and said i could take it up with corporate, that his store will not honor it.

What the heck is going on! This was not a pay at pickup order, this product was bought which makes it legally binding agreement. I've been on hold with for customer service for over an hour now!

Thank you 4wheelparts for making my friday miserable!

Talked to the Customer service manager at 4wheelparts.

He said they will not uphold this deal, regardless of legal action taken. He went on to say that they are not obligated to honor any purchase from their website.

I should of known not to do business with these jerks, I guess its up to the state attorney generals office now!

You darn right, BBB and State attorney general office. Texas has consumer protection laws against just this type of thing. Guess its the one good thing Gvr Perry signed in a few years ago.

Sorry to hear about your problems with them. i would definately say go to the AG's office, BBB, local media if they have a watch dog type unit. Fortunately. Not sure how they can legally hold it when you payed in full and are only picking it up their and not buying it their. It would be like UPS holding a package after shipping was already paid for. Isnt that like a typical bait and switch tactic and I know thats illegal. I have not had any complaints with my dealings with 4wheelparts but havent done that much business with them either.

I dont see how they could legally get away with that. You are purchasing from their website which gives you the option to pickup in-person. How more explicit does it need to be? Did you call their corporate office?

Thats where the customer service manager was at, so yes. I had made it very clear to the guy what texas law requires, and that since they operate within Texas they are required to follow such laws. I made sure that this was 4wheelparts official position before pursuing legal actions. He said that was the official stance and that they will not be swayed by any threat of legal action in this matter.

I guess we will see what the AG office has to say, as i know its on their top priority list to track down internet fraud within the Texas borders.

I understand that a local store might be ignorant of such things, but the corporate offices should not be.

I urge everybody to steer clear of their website if you plan on actually having your product. Apparently 4wheelparts only cares about their bottom dollar and not their reputation!

4wp strikes again. I would never consider doing business with them after everything I've heard. I really hope you get this resolved.

No TCM for Predator, which is being phased out. A custom tune is the way to go.
