i have a 99 silverado 1500 5.3

it has the push button for the 4wheel drive. none of the lights work. im not sure if it will even engage in 4x4 or not. ive done a lil research. about the encoder motor needing to be replaced, im just tryin to get some other opinions or ideas on it?

does the light even show its in 2 HI?? the actual electronic piece can fail, mine did on the beast but that is a different kind of electronic push button, I do know that it can be tested though to verify that its just the push button piece or something in the transfer case

The easiest way to find out if it engages 4wd is to find a bit of dirt, push the button and see if it will spin the tires. X2 on what Caddiac said.
