Hello,

I am a new member. I recently bought the suburban and it was running fine , however now the truck wont move now . It had a slight clanking by the flexplate, but when i drove it yesterday all of a sudden it didnt want to shift or move. The clanking is very loud now even in neutral. The Truck wont even go in reverse.

My question is if this means the transmission needs to be rebuild or if it is only a flex plate / torque converter issue? Any help would be helpful.

I was thinking the torque converter bolts came loose; but if transmission hasn't been removed, them that's not likely.

As @ministock8 suggests, the plate may have broken.

When that happened to mine, the rivers in the tc had sheared and required a $5700 rebuild of the tranny. The debris took out a bunch of stuff in the tranny.

Broken flex plate OR the torque converter has gone bad. It's rare but if you can back up; that's an indication that it might be the culprit. Will it still shift into reverse and just not move?
