5.7 Vortec Supercharger

Looking to hear from anyone who’s put a supercharger on a GMT400 Suburban 2500 with the 5.7 Vortec? I ask bc I’ve always wanted a green over gold GMT400 Suburban 2500 4x4 with the 7.4. I found a beauty but she’s got the 5.7. But I want to stay in the max towing range of 10K as with the 7.4 rather than 7K with the 5.7. So I was wondering if a supercharger would do the trick.

I did Cowboy. Thank you though!
Adding a supercharge will give you a power boost no doubt, but it will not increase your towing limit. Suspension and gearing will increase that, but keep in mind that there is no way to get your burb certified to up your limit.
It’s a 2500 GMT400. Same everything as with what a 7.4 would come with minus the 7.4. I know the horsepower will increase but I’m wondering about the torque.
I installed a Procharger supercharger on my old 2000 Silverado 5.3. A word of caution: A supercharged engine runs hotter so you need to install electric radiator fans and eliminate the factory fan. Also plumb your intake through a cold-air system, purchase larger than stock injectors (I went from 23 lbs/hr to 46 lbs/hr), get the biggest intercooler that is available and get it professionally tuned. One last thing, maybe just buy a newer truck. I spent $10,000 + on mine (I did the labor) and could have spent more. It never ends. Have fun!!
Thank you for the response. I’ve no interest in a new truck. I absolutely love GMT400 Suburbans. I’ve heard I want to find a supercharger that will give me low and mid range boost like a roots or twin screw charger over a centrifugal that gives top end boost? What kind was the Procharger you used?
Excellent. Your experience was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for responding!

Most recent quote was 9K for a supercharger. I don’t tow anything anymore but just wanted a little more out of this 5.7 so I’ve decided to put some BBK shorty headers on it, remove the cats and add some MagnaFlow mufflers. Then will be taking it to a GM performance shop nearby to have her tuned. I think I’ll be happy with those results.
Hey Ray! Good to hear from you my friend! I sold the 06 8.1L. Just don’t need her anymore since we got rid of the trailer. And I’ve always loved the GMT400 Suburban 2500 4x4body styles. And this green over gold is my favorite color scheme. I just want to wake up this 5.7 a tad. Nothing super crazy. I have no experience with superchargers and did not realize how expensive they were. So like I said I’m going to put some shorty headers on. Remove the cats. And install some comp cams if I can afford that? I’ve read cams and exhaust upgrades on these 5.7 vortecs can produce an increase of 60 HP alone!
