I have a 1992 Chevy K2500 and I just installed a rebuilt 700r4. It seems to be shifting well (rpm drop in gear) which seems normal. But fluid is not being cycled out of the pan. The only way I can get the truck to move is in drive going full throttle it'll creep along slowly. I am not sure how to fix it. Any input is really appreciated!!

Why did you install a 700r4? Isn't the original tranny a 4l80e?

The truck had a 700r4 in it when I bought it back in July. It was pulled out of a field and pieced together, so I'm not certain if it's the stock tranny. But I am using the same tranny that I pulled out (that was rebuilt) and the same torque (old one)

Is the tranny acting the same before and after the rebuild? Do you know what transfer case is in it? Make sure you don't have any locked up brakes.

How do you know fluid isn't cycling out of the pan?
Autos are essentially a fluid drive, pump shooting fluid at adjustable vanes driving gears for the final drive.
If you aren't cycling fluid there is no primary drive.
Was the rebuild done by a reputable shop?
Possibilities are bad pump, or bad gasket/seal allowing air to suck in.

Before the rebuild the tranny would stay in Neutral while in gear. After rebuild you can hear it shift into gear. I don't know what transfer case is in it. The pump is the same pump from before the rebuild (worked even after the clutches burnt out)

When I put the torque converter on I heard the clicks and heard the pan turning when spinning it by hand.

The only way I can get any movement out of it is by going wide open throttle and then it will inch along slowly

Also; the rebuild was done in a buddy's garage who used to work for a trans rebuild shop. (So it could be done incorrectly) but I also tried with an old trans that definetely still worked when I pulled it. And I got the same result

With two trannies that limits it to the torque converter, a locked brake or dependent on the transfer case burned clutches in an AWD transfer case.

I'm not sure what a totally blocked transmission cooler line would do.

A blocked tranny line would spew all it's fluid out of the vent tube on the tranny. I don't know much about the 700r4 but I know that it is pretty much a 4l60. The first thing I thought about when I first read this thread was it's the torque converter. And I still believe it is especially after the last bit of info... when I had my tranny rebuilt I brought 2 torque converters with me and the shop said nope... we never reuse them...

The transfer case is the manual shift one on the floor (4L, N, 2H, 4H). The brakes are not locked because I can spin the tires freely by hand. But it could be the torque converter. I used 2 preused torque converters on the tranny. Maybe they're both broken?

Tranny shops will not guarantee a rebuild unless a new TC is installed. When a tranny grenades the TC will have all kinds of crap in it. No amount of cleaning will get it all out. A used TC can destroy a tranny.
