Hopefully someone might have an answer for me. I think it is great that there is a club like this.
I have an 88 Suburban 1500 Seirra 6.2 Deisel which I purchased in hopes to rebuilding.
I have found someone with an 84 6.2 and was curious if parts from one would fit the other. Also is the fuel injection pump a costly repair?
Thanks for the input

Hey welcome to the club. Some of the guys know more about diesels than I do, although I'm becomming really curious about them with rising fuel costs.
I think the injection pump in the 84year is a mechanical (you hope) if so you can get one rebuilt for around $400 to $800 dollars if it in electronic look at spending $1500 on a rebuild.
They ain't cheep to work on.
Thank you for hospitality... I look forward to having some time to come back often to this club.
Thanks for the replies everyone... what about the interchanging of parts from an 84 to an 88 in regards to things like doors, tailgate, etc

Body wise, everything should easily interchange from the 84 to the 88. The only thing about the gate is that you can't (cheaply) change from barn doors to gate or vise versa. Everything else should readily relocate from one truck to the other.
thanks much for your help
