Well this is my first post so hello lol. I got a 89 frame I wanted to convert to 2 wheel drive. It’s going under a studebaker cab and bed. What I’m asking is, should I spend my time converting the spindles or just put a straight axle underneath it. I also need to the room to fit a 350 as well! Thanks in advance!

First off welcome to the forum and congrats on the stude p/u! Is it the same 50's era as the Idaho potato guy drives? To me those were the best looking of the 50's pickups, way better than chev and ford. If it was me and you have the time and money I would go with an IFS setup, some nice chrome/moly tubular control arms with coil over shocks, especially if you plan on crusin' or taking this rig to shows. It will ride much better on whatever driving you plan on doing.

Thanks! And it’s a 50 2r! I love the simplicity of the styling back then. I’m also doing this for my mom for her to enjoy. So I’m on a time crunch and I don’t have too much to spend on it. I have the straight axle off the studebaker I could try to retro fit back on the jimmy, it would have the nostalgia to it as well. I just didn’t know if I could make the 4wd knuckles work without the axles and delete the diff.
