89 Suburban Gas gauge w/ carb conversion.....

Greetings all. I replace the computer with a carb. I unplugged the
fuel​
 pump wire back by the tank and now the fuel gauge goes all the way past full, obviously not working. Any thoughts on how to hook up the gauge but not the pump?
