Hello, I have a 92 1500 with a 4.3. I just got the truck and it was a mess. long story short, the engine is a milkshake. My question is where is the high idle solenoid? The truck will not idle down. Any other tips to slow the idle would be great, Thanks.

High idle can be caused by a number of different things. A bad IAC valve, vacuum leak, TPS, MAF sensor, just to name a few. What have you done to determine what is causing the high idle?

Your comment, the engine is a milkshake, is a little disturbing. What exactly do you mean by that? Are you saying it's all jacked up, or does your oil look like a milkshake?

Welcome to the forum.

There is no high idle solenoid, so to speak. Then TBI is a carb with no float bowl. The injectors spray gas instead of the accelerator pump.

The idle is controlled completely by the computer adjusting the Idle Air Control. There is no throttle adjustment that should be made. If you have high idle for too long, it’s usually attributed to a defective coolant temp sensor. Next would be a vacuum leak. Third contributor would be the throttle position sensor. The IAC itself could be bad. Do not throw parts at it.

Let’s diagnose this with you.

Thanks guys!! Come to find out it was a bent prong on the big plug on the passenger side intake. Once straightened it works fine. The truck had water in the oil "aka milkshake" did a flush and looks good so far. Now fighting coolant leaks. Like I said the truck is rough.
