On my 92 Burban the speedo keeps going out.
All the other guages seem to work fine.
I know that it is elect...
Where should I start the guage cluster or the connection at the trany???
It will work fine for a while then not. Or it wont work at all for a week then start working again.
Just a pesky prob theat I want to fix.

Thanks for the help.......

Check the easy things first. I would check the wires at the transmission (2wd) or transfercase (4X4) outputspeed sensor, they may be broken at the sensor or anywhere along the wire harness.

Do just as he has suggested, start outside and make sure all wires are intact and the sensor looks good.

The only real way to check the sensor that I know of is to put the thing on jack stands and run it in drive and check for a signal at the sensor. If it increases with the engine rpm chances are the sensor is good.

Oh ya make sure you have a helper if you try and check the sensor on stands, having someone in the drivers seat is a real good cautionary thing, just in case.

Then while it’s still on stands check for a signal at the dash pot for the sending unit.

But most likely it is a sending unit or wire.
