White smoke is blowing from exhaust. Is there some tests I can run or should I just go right to the head gaskets?

Guessing it's water, probably intake gaskets
Yes that’s what I was thinking as well but my oil smells like gas? It’s definitely the gaskets I think I’m just going to do them all next weekend. Don’t suppose you have any tips for a guy opening a gmc for the first time?

There are a bunch of videos on you tube, here are a few. Take a bunch of pics before you start. It makes things a lot easier when you put things back together.

White smoke is water in the combustion, water will stop the ignition and the fuel in that/those cylinder(s) will not burn, hence the gas smell.

Here is what I would do.

Check the plugs, easy to tell if you find a wet one, or two. Note the cylinder where you find the wet plugs

A compression check will tell you if the head gasket is gone, if the compression looks good, you have a bad intake gasket.
