You have a brake interlock that prevents shifting out of Park, without applying the brake. Some are mechanical (linkage), others are electrical/mechanical (linkage and solenoid). I don't know hat you have.

No power windows, check the fuses

Check the prndl fuse.... i had an ignition switch fail that would cause the tranny to be stuck in 3rd, 6-7 tranny codes and no Speedo... replaced the switch and fixed it... these switches are not cheap i used a low mileage junkyard switch.

A blown fuse causes the same symptoms.

Theres one wire associated with the tranny at the ignition switch, I believe it's pink. It goes from the ignition switch to the fuse panel in the side of the dash, maybe fuse 19, then to the tranny. It's a positive feed and should be the same voltage as the battery. All the other wires for the tranny are negative feeds that are controlled by the ecm. I would check continuity/voltage from the fuse to the plug on the tranny. I forget what pin it is but E comes to mind, find a small drill bit that fits perfectly inside for easy testing. I guess you should check and see if you have voltage at the prndl fuse first.

Check the powertrain forum for more info on the 4l60e including wiring schematics....

That honestly sounds like your switch is screwed... i only say that because thats exactly what I delt with for a year of troubleshooting an intermittent tranny loosing power. It would happen once a month and progressively got worse until it was constant. It didn't matter what I did nothing worked... the only variable is how the contact makes the connection inside the switch. I took my failed switch apart and saw black arcing dust (whatever thats called) on most of the contacts. This switch cannot be reassembled... believe me... im cheap and I tried. LOL.

You can't drive it period? No forward or reverse or nothing??? Ya limp mode in these trucks is 3rd gear only while in drive plus those other simple symptoms... You can manually shift 1st or 2nd no overdrive.

So.... that's all the ignition switch has to do with the tranny, something else is going on here... maybe a broken shifter cable? Mine broke right under the carpet drivers side...

Can you move the shifter?

the shifter cable is a manual thing not electronic. hmmmmm. if you dont have even reverse or anything i would check cable. im confused because you didnt have these problems before you cut the wires

Shifter moves just not into gear feels like it's stuck but has play but Ima check all wires again An check fuses an no my tranny is good cause I drive it them morning before doing anything so I'm really sure it's in the ignition switch wiring

Hmm well then I would have to agree with Ray that theres a problem with the brake interlock switch. The shifter wont come out of park without pressing the brake, the brake interlock switch may just need adjusting or is faulty.

I would guess faulty due to shorting out
