Find the AC relay,
Get a helper and have them turn the AC on/off,
You place a finger, or 2, on top of the relay,
Can you feel the click as the relay operates and releases as the switch is turned on/off?

If it clicks, you probably have a clutch issue,
Go to the compressor and listen for the clutch to operate as the AC is turned on/off.

No relay clicks, check the fuses (as @p0zburn suggests).
And check the pressure as @p0zburn suggests.

my 2000 silverado a couple of weeks ago I am a HVAC tech ..my pressure is very low freon in the system. .compressor not running.
I put a freon in the system a small amount then I found the high pressure fitting .. was a leak.. replaced the fitting and was new fitting no leak ..
the UV in the system has a leak check ..
I replaced my 96 Impala compressor .. the compressor gaskets are leaking and I did it 15 yrs ago ..
