I had American Axel and Manufacturing gears put in...those ore the OEM brand of gears. A local shop got the gears and installed them for $600.00 out the door. That was the install, fluid, and the gears.hey SSTONER911 how much would it cost to buy some new 4:11's and where could i purchase them?
Ya you could probably do 4.56...I would nt say 4.11's or 4.56 are for better gas mileage! What you want to figure put is your tire height and what your typical highway rpms are then figure in the gears you want so you can see what your new rpms will be.Hey man i went to the site i would probably want 4.56's since someone told me if your looking for more power and takeoff compared to the 4.11's more for gas mileage and such.. here is a link would these fit my truck? They are GM 4.56's 8.5 bolt?http://www.drivetrainamerica.com/p-906-40028640-gm-85-8625-456-ratio-aam-gear-set.aspx
Anything will be an improvement over stock, however, what gears you choose will depend on what your looking for. How tall are your tires from the ground to the top of the tire? If its 33 inches you are looking at 2400-2500 rpms at 80mph.Thanks for that site man the closet one for my truck is the 4.27 it said when i calculated it it came out to be 4.35 and the 4.27 is closer than the 4.56 but who run's 4.27's will it be better getting up and going than when i had it stock or what?
