Hey all, recently ive been having a problem with my amp and sub in my truck. I installed them a few months ago and everything has been working fine, but lately its been acting weird. When i turn on my radio everything works and the amp is on and the sub is kicking, but at random times like in the middle of songs the sub will just stop, and then maybe start back up again...am i missing something really simple? the only thing i can think of is maybe the amp isnt getting enough air flow or something because its behind my back bench seat. Could it have anything to do with a battery? ive been thinking about adding a second one but i dont know how to do that, any help is appreciated thanks!

Is your amp going into protect mode at any point? Also, have you upgraded the Big 3 wires? That might help alleviate the issue.

What kind of Amp and Sub? Is it the only aftermarket thing hooked up to the battery? How far is the ground from the amp?

Yea sometimes it goes into protect mode...what does that mean? And how do I stop it?

Its a 12" rockford sub with a 800w nitro amp. Currently its thhe only aftermarket thing hooked to the battery.

Check your ground wire and make sure it's connected to a clean, unpainted, metal part of the vehicle. (ex: a large bolt underneath the back seat).

What is the RMS of that amp? I would get the Sub checked. I bet it is not reading 4 ohms..That would put the amp in to protect too...

definately make sure the ohms are matching up. and make sure your rms on the amp matches or is relatively close to the rms on the sub. its possible that your sub is trying to draw too much power from the amp if it cant put out enough, thus making it go into protect mode. Alos, be sure that all wires are connected securely as a loose power wire can do the same thing lol. What model subwoofer and amp do you have exactly?
