Not sure if Im posting in the right, place new to this forumn.

Well for starters got a 2.9 v4, running MBRP SS Dual exhasut, with K and N 63 series Cold air intake and JET Stage 2 performance chip.

Anything you guys think I should change?

Any recomondations for any more performance additions?

It seems that is about all the bolts on I could do. I have been looking at actual mechanical parts, but we dont seem to find any performance upgardes flyweehl etc....

Before any haters bash me for trying to pump up my 4 bannger, save yourself the time and keep moving. I know my car is not a beast, but it is fun quick and wouldnt mind adding more fun stuff to it, sepcifically if they make the car quicker more reliable or powerful, im all for it.


BTW I am in CALI so alot crapy emission laws.

It appears the OP has a Chevrolet Colorado. You could get a 2.9L I4 (not V4) with 185HP and 190 ft-lbs of torque.

2.9L is a really big 4 cylinder engine.

The I5 was a 3.5L then a 3.7L, the I4 was a 2.8L then a 2.9L.

I do have questions on the supercharger, I dont see many places that seel this for my vehicle it maybe the cali laws. Also form what ive seen turbo and supers are made for the deisels and v8's. Cna you shed any light on this anyone?

As far as adding a supercharger, do you really want to spend that much money?

Yep exactly the same truck, but if it could be done, then eventually yes. why not?? It be would fun to have a truck that looks like a commuter and then hauls ass.

A supercharger or turbo are not limited to diesel or v8 applications. They may however, only be sold as bolt-on kits for the more popular applications. The majority of truck owners don't drive 4 cylinder Canyon. Vortech sells their supercharger units separately from full kits. You can also buy turbos separately. With a turbo, you might need to have a custom exhaust manifold made, to support the turbo, though, if nobody makes one. For both, you'll probably have to run custom intake piping. An air/air intercooler would be useful to have with it as well, if you go that route. You won't need water or methanol injection, unless you want to make huge power, in which case you're probably going to have to rebuild the engine with stronger internals and ARP bolts, so it can take the big boost it would require to make lots of power.

Another option is to simply trade it in for a Colorado or Canyon that comes with a V8. It was an option, so you might be able to find one. It's a 5.3L that makes 300 HP.

dobey, thank you I went to Vortech's website. They have the V-5 supercharger g and f series, websites says the kit is made for engines as small as 1.4 and large as 4.3 max hp up to 500hp I believe the g series boost at 15 psi and f series at 14 psi. Looks like the f series is built to be mounted anywhere where the g series is to be mounted in a specific location. From what I gathered anyways.

I guess I am in the majority with wanting tune up a little engine the vortech 2.9 i4 that my truck came stock with is a lil bad ass has great torques and hp for its size.

I am set in my mind that I want to keep the stock powerplant just add componets to it.

Not only that v8 v6 for the most part gobble gas my 4 not so much. Also a 4 suped up runs alot different then a big ol v8.

I know the mod I am looking to do is alittl race oreinted but really not looking for that if I was I totally would go with a v8. I am just doing for personal enjoyment and to zip pass vehicles and for people to be like why the hell is that lil truck passing me.

I live in a small town in socal everyone thinks there a racer and to just get into the lane to turn inot a store or to get to a side street involves hauling butt.

For instance this morn was in the right lane it was about to end in a block. So i needed to lane change the kid in the prius next to me looked over and stepped on the pedal basically blocking me. I downshifted and openned up on him a lil bit flew past him changed lanes and made the light.

At the end of the day thats what im looking for granted im already there with the mods I have done but what if it was stock stang, bmw, benz etc....

So with this 2500 supercharger I could be like f your beemer f your couch and blow past them!

Score one for the lil guy! lol

Then you should probably slow down and let the faster car pass. So what if your truck isn't the fastest thing on the block? It's a 4 cylinder pickup, not a Ferrari. Speed limits and traffic laws exist for a reason. Further endangering yourself and others, because some other people don't respect the road, themselves, or their cars, doesn't mean you should behave like them too.

People everywhere drive like idiots and like they're the only one on the road. You're little corner of SoCal isn't special in that regard.

I was not going to say anything until that last pile of boy street racer bravado came out. Please, Please, Please try to blow 14 - 17 psi of boost through your little I4 engine, Please try and do it. This response I respect, but luckily I dont dirve like an ahole I just like to get past and avoid the a-holes for my safety. I am sure youve seen someone driving erradic ahead of you and though I need to be far as away form this guy as possible.

Also some questions for you to reflect on. Why would you need to come into discussion forumn just to talk crap? Since this forumn talks about mods, why wouldnt I be modding my trucl 4 or not. ALso is there a law that people wiht bangers can not upgrade there truck?

Look I dont race dotn wanna race, I dont even intend on it. I would however like a unique truck, A super speedy truck with a total stock look other then bigger tires.

Sorry, but slowing down is always an option. If it's not, you're already going to fast anyway, and need to slow down. And probably so does the person you want to pass for whatever reason.

Yes, people do suck, and there are more people driving now than there ever has been, with more people not paying attention to their surroundings, or even the road. If there's a particular road, or set of particular roads, where drivers are especially bad, then it might due well to call the local police and city council to inform them of the increase in poor driving in those areas, and better if you can say specific times when it gets worse. They'll put a policemen or two out there a few times, maybe one of the speed gun trailers that shows drivers their speed, and council could pass a bill to lower the speed limit, or raise the fines for speeding, in the area, to help get people to slow down and drive better. There will still bee the idiots of course, but these things do help, and don't increase the risk of accidents or worse, that giving everyone more horsepower would.

Besides, what will you do if you install a supercharger on your truck, and then all the *******s in the blue BMWs go do the same to their cars? You'll be back to square one, and wanting to go faster, instead of slowing down, but already be near the breaking point of what your engine may be able to handle.
