I was thinking about changing my gears from 3.23's to 3.73's and putting on 33 or 34 inch tires. Has anyone had those gears and switched them, does it kill your gas milage and was it a big power increase?
If your going to 33" or 34" tires this will help return some of your fuel mileage and performance a tire this size takes away.
I cant find it right now but theres a chart floating around that recommends the best gears for different size tires. Off the top of my head most 33/34" tires will use a higher gear ratio than 3.73, your probably looking at 4.10 or 4.56 to bring the performance and mileage back close to stock.
for that little gear change i forget it---not worth the cost. yhink you need the front to match so that is 2X gear swap @ $1000 an axle---i go for 4:56 or 4:11 both are good hwy and street gears and good for most 35" tires....mike
