I have a 1983 6.2 diesel with an automatic trans and wanted to know if the trans can be used with a gas motor, since the 6.2 through a rod I wanted to replace it with a 350 gas

The Diesel tranny wont work since the gearing etc is different and will bog the Gas motor and give you no power. Luckly a gas Turbo 400 will bolt right in place of the Diesel Turbo 400!

I guess it might have been a dumb question, I thought since the rpm ranges were different it probably wouldnt work but thought maybe just a computer chip change or valve body change or something like that might be possible. Thanks again for taking the time to help
