Battery Draining after 2 days. 2003 Silverado

I would look for a light that is staying on...

I had a trunk light in my corolla that would not turn off.....would do the same thing, after a couple days of no use, it would be dead.
Drove me crazy, finally took it to an electrical shop and they found it was the trunk light.
Unplugged him and problem went away.

Wasn't there a recall on the 2003's for this something with the steering wheel position sensor not letting the BCM shutoff when the key is in the off position. Not saying that is your problem but something to take into consideration.

X2 on the posts above Derick. If you don't find anything, then disconnect the negative battery cable & hook up an amp meter or a test light if you don't have the multimeter. If you find a draw, start pulling one fuse at a time untill the draw dissappears. This will be the circuit that is draining your battery.

I would have to agree with the previous posts that this would be the best place to start. I can also look into this further for you. In order to do so, I will need the VIN for the vehicle. Too add on to this, i just went to check to see if the glove box light was being left on or any other light for that matter. Found no light, but heard a distinct whirring coming from the dash behind the gauges area?? That strike anyone to be weird? Could this be related to the BCM shutoff that was mentioned?

and about the multimeter

Where do i connect the multimeter or light too after i disconnect the negative cable? To the battery terminals?
What should the reading be on the multimeter if there is a draw or not?

With the negative cable disconnected from the battery post, hook between the negative cable & the negative battery post. If you use a test light, it should light up for a couple seconds & then go out IF there is no draw. As far as how much of a draw will drag your battery down, depends on how good your battery is. As little as 1/4-1/2 amp draw will drain a marginal battery. If it turns out that you have zero/no draw, then this could just be a poor battery that won't hold a charge more than a couple days. Auto Zone will test your battery for free if you find no draw on your system.
This whirring noise that you're hearing? Is this happening 24/7 no matter what? If so I would check this out first, because this is not normal & could be your problem.

Thanks Stephan, i will definately check that out. The whirring is very subtle, i could only hear it because it was late at night and quiet outside.

Ok, what I have have found.
The buzzing or whirring in the dash was tied to the fuse for the Panel Cluster (all the gages) pulled it out, and no more sound)
Also, my new battery was now toast, had it tested and it was garbage. So bought a new one.

Right now we are seeing if it was the gages by pulling the fuse everynight and hoping it doesnt go dead again.

Has anyone heard of this before, or have any better ideas?

disconnect the pcm and look for corrosion in the blue connector

I just joined to find out about my 2500 2003 battery being drained in a couple days. I had just replaced the battery. So I was wondering where to start also . No lights are left on. I was pulling the neg cable every time I was done using it till I have time to look into it.
