I need to replace my catylic converter on my 97GMC Sierra 1500, I have dual exhaust with a y connector I had run after I bought the truck ,so would that be a universal converter with 2.5 inlets?

Trying to follow what your saying, you have a Y connector, a Y connector would not be used on dual exhaust.
Factory exhaust would have pipes from each exhaust manifold to a Y connector under the truck, the Y connector would bring the 2 front pipes into a single exhaust running to the rear of the truck.
I think the '97 would have 2 cats, between the manifolds and the Y connector.

If you had duals to the rear, the Y connector could be an H connector, or you could just have 2 pipes running to the rear of the truck without any connectors.
