Not long ago one of the car magazines had an article about these cars.
They have an additional data package that can be added to the vehicle, the add-on package includes IR frt/rr, license plate scanners frt/rr that are capable of scanning upto 1100 plates during an 8 hour patrol, an on board laptop style computer system connected to available Police data banks, 360 view cameras with memory back-up, and a few other high tech items.
All dressed up they look like something out of a futuristic cop movie.

I saw that license plate scanner on discovery channel, they were programming software for it, it was insane how they could just drive around and scan everyone's plates.
