Chirping noise around A-pillar... [Expired Topic]

1930 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  84fiero123
I have an '03 Z71 with 73K miles. There is a chirping noise from the driver's side front pillar and chirps constantly. Finally decided to do something about it and would rather not pay a dealership to fix the problem. Anyone have any idea whta this could be and how to remedy it?

Thanks

RE: Chirping noise around A-pillar...

Have someone ride in the back seat behind you and listen.

I bet it is just a misaligned peace of molding.

Silicone lube may help if you can find the offending molding.

Thanks for the suggestion, but sitting in the back seat it still sounds like the front pillar. I could not find any loose molding. Every now and again I hear it when closing the driver's door, but when I try to get a closer listen it goes away.

It must know that its days are numbered.
RE: Chirping noise around A-pillar...

Sorry thought you said other pillar, between front seat and back seat.

In this case remove a peace of trim, then see if the noise is still there.

If it is gone you found the culprit.

If it isn’t you are one step closer to the problem, go on to the next peace of trim.

It could be a loose dash bolt, in that case you have some fun ahead of you. Dash bolts are in some of the most inaccessible spots you will ever find.
