noticed under the right side of my engine compartment that there’s puddles of what looks like condensate? It has been really cold here and I am wondering if having the defroster on makes the air conditioner compressor have the same condensate like in summer?

In defrost mode, the AC compressor runs intermittently,1to cycle it for lubrication,2 to dehumidify the cabin,all is well

Generally the AC compressor runs when in defrost.

Two reasons, the evaporator drys the air inside the vehicle; and, running the AC occasionally keeps the seals lubricated.

thanks for the quick response, I’ve never noticed this before but then I wasn’t actually looking for it in really cold weather.

Guess I won’t go into panic mode when I see that puddle of condensate under my truck from now on.
