I am looking to convert my 98 gmc k1500 automatic into a carburetted manual.

What kind of things am I looking for? New intake manifold? Or are there drop in ones that mount to the stock intake manifold? What manual trannies would bolt right up? And fuel pump is going to be changed/modified correct?

Not sure what else I'm missing though

I'm not guna help much other than to lead you to www.gmt400.com where this had been discussed many times. theres lots of guys running carbs. theres quite a few guys who have ran carbs and then went back to EFI. because......

The electronic fuel ignition tunes the fuel to air ratio 1000 times a min for optimal performance. With a carb you will need to be constantly tuning it according to the weather and elevation. like if you were to drive up a mountain you will need to adjust the carb to keep it running right.

An EFI does that 1000 times a minute.

We dont live near mountains but I can distinctly remember my dad constantly tuning the carb in all the vehicles we had growing up. he would say if you cant lay rubber than it ain't running right!
