Ok since my 05 is new to me(102,500 miles on the clock) I've been doing some of the maintenance items.

New plugs, replaced dying alternator, air cleaner, oil change, dropped the transmission pan changed filter, put new pan with drain plug etc.

Last night I went to change the rear differential fluid. The bolts weren't friendly coming off, so my guess it never was removed.

I didn't get a new gasket since I've read they're reusable. However when I pulled the cover off the outer edges of the gasket were rusty.

So now i'm thinking the hell with it, get a new gasket/cover for the rear end.

I'm having a heck of a time finding a good cover option.

It doesn't seem that dorman makes a cheaper option for the cover.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I have the 8" dana if my research is correct, what they show is 8.6"
