i have a 94 suburban( i believe the ecm's are the same as the truck) so the question is does the ecm have the ability to control an electric fan and if so where might the ports be. i have been attempting to get an ipb on the electronics but have had no such luck. reason being is ill never put another mechanical fan back on and am currently controlling the fan manually. it would be nice to automate it and maintain the manual override for off road or er purposes.

ok, after long last i found the answer to my own question. not sure if this is just a suburban thing or entire 1500 series platform. i found its far simpler than i expected. the 1500 5.7 series used an aux fan control system which consisted of a negative connect temp sensor to be linked with a subrelay to control the fan relay system activation. i havent found out yet what the heat range is but the part number i found is SW571 from autozone.

ok another update. i refused to accept failure in this search. i found Wells tech page listing all of there temp switches. http://www.wellsve.com/custom_searches/ds_fans.php?showall=yes they do not sell directly to the customer but there part numbers do cross with autozone and advanced auto.

Is there any reprogramming you're going to have to do with the computer to get the output to work? I know with the mid-2000 trucks you can run an e-fan off the computer output, but a programming mod has to be done to turn the output on.

with atleast the 94's no programming is needed. its designed separate for the eec. thats not to say the eec doesnt have the ability. and yes i know of the programming mods for the fans if the eec has that ability. moates.net sells programming systems of which you can link your laptop up to the eec and dictate 100% every aspect of the eec. i have the q-horse for my car(ford only for the q-horse) but there are other for chevy and with using BE(which they provide you with) you can do anything you want. my primary search since i dont have the programer yet was does the obd1 for a 94 have that option. thats still not answered yet but i did find some can with a stand alone fan control system.
